Smoke Nozzle Overview

Smoke Nozzle

The Nozzle 

The smoke nozzles are designed to atomize the smoke oil injected into the aircraft exhaust system.  The atomized oil burns more efficiently, creating a denser smoke trail and more importantly, a cleaner belly.

The video shows the first generation nozzle, which has since been revised to provide additional flow for even more dense smoke.  This airplane has an injected O-540 with three-into-two exhaust stacks.  A total of two nozzles are installed, one into each exhaust stack.

The smoke nozzle specs are as follows:

  • Material is stainless steel

  • End 1 is a -04 AN fitting

  • End 2 is a 1/8 NPT with a .25 in. diameter nozzle.

 

This smoke nozzles is designed to interface with a welded bung on the exhaust system.  No hose clamps and big holes to fill if the system is deleted.  Just install a cap on the nozzle or remove the nozzle and install a plug.

Bungee Tool Overview

The bungee tool is designed to fit the Pitts Special airframe for the purpose of replacing the landing gear bungee shock cords.

This tool incorporates the following features:

  • Tig welded 4130 steel tubing

  • Acme threaded rod for increased ease of bungee installation

  • Thrust bearing to reduce the torque under load as the bungees stretch

  • Thinner upper push arm to help mitigate installation issues in tighter airframes.

Pitts Bungee Tool Installed

In lieu of purchasing, the bungee tool is available for rent with the following stipulations:

Tool rental is for 15 days from the date of shipment. The renter shall pay shipping both ways. A security deposit of $450.00 will be charged in addition to shipping. Once the tool is returned undamaged, the rental fee will be subtracted from the security deposit and the balance refunded. If rental exceeds 15 days, an additional rental fee of $125.00 will be charged against the security deposit. The rental fee will be recurring every 15 days until the security deposit is exhausted upon which the tool will become owned by the renter.
